Thornwood Mixed Martial Arts began as Westchester's earliest Gracie Jiu-Jitsu academy back in 1994. Thornwood later adding expert
muay thai kickboxing and Erik Paulson's combat submission wrestling. We
now teach many martial arts including Judo, sport Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu,
self defense based Gracie Jiu-Jitsu for law enforcement, women or anyone
interested in self defense, Mixed Martial Arts and more.
CONVENIENT SCHEDULE
Thornwood MMA provides a great schedule of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
classes starting as early as 6:00am in morning, being taught throughout
the day and ending late at night. This gives our BJJ or Grcie jiu-jitsu
students plenty of options and keeps our class sizes down to make sure
everyone gets personal attention.
WESTCHESTER'S TOP COMPETITION TEAM
Once known only for its great instruction and incredible atmosphere,
Thornwood MMA now boasts the county's top competition team. Thornwood
BJJ fighters are always on top of some of the world's biggest
tournaments and it all starts with what we do on the BJJ mat's every
day.
STRUCTURED CURRICULUM
Our structured curriculum helps Thornwood students take their
training to the next level! Our BJJ curriculum focuses on structured
fundamentals a week at a time. This helps students integrate BJJ moves
into live sparring instead of just learning the move in theory.
CLASSES FOR ADVANCED STUDENTS
Most academies only have classes for beginner students with only a
few advanced classes. At Thornwood MMA, we have advanced Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu classes every day. We always have many colored belts on the
mat that will help you go from white to black belt in the shortest time
possible.

Thornwood MMA's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes focus on personal
development through martial arts and is more than just a sport. Our BJJ
program helps students develop confidence, improve self discipline,
focus and determination.
